ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention discloses a low-speed disconnect for a constant speed drive transmission. The constant speed drive transmission has a housing, an input shaft extending into the housing, coupling means in the housing axially aligned with and selectively driven by the input shaft and a driven member splined to the other end portion of said coupling means. A worm means is splined to the coupling means for relative axial move- ment with respect to the coupling means and a ratchet means is provided on one end of the worm means. Axially movable one-way detent teeth means extend toward the ratchet means and action between the driven member and the coupling means through the worm means is made for urging the coupling means into coupled relationship with the input shaft. Gear means are provided to move into contact with the form means whereby rotation of the input shaft and coupling means will thread the worm and coupling means away from the input shaft to disconnect the coupling means from the input shaft and will engage the ratchet means with the one-way detent teeth means so that the coupling means is moved axially away from the input shaft and the one-way detent teeth means prevents the coupling means from reengaging with said input shaft. This improved low-speed disconnect cannot accidently return to the reengaged position and thus, reduces the likelihood of damage during operation.
