A method is shown for fracturing a subterranean formation in which a hydratable polymer, crosslinking agent and breaker are combined to form a gelled fracturing fluid. The pH of the fracturing fluid is initially raised above about 9.0 to deactivate the breaker. A pH regulating substance is added to the fracturing fluid which slowly hydrolyzes to produce an acid, thereby dropping the breaker to produce a controlled break of the polymer gel.

L'invention décrit une méthode permettant de fracturer une formation souterraine et comportant un polymère hydratable, un agent de réticulation et un agent de rupture dont la combinaison produit un fluide de fracturation en gel. Initialement, le pH du fluide de fracturation est augmenté au-dessus d'environ 9,0 pour désactiver l'agent de rupture. Une substance permettant de régler le pH est ajoutée au fluide de fracturation qui s'hydrolyse lentement en dégageant un acide, ce qui active l'agent de rupture qui provoque alors une rupture contrôlée du gel de polymère.
