A low temperature process for lithiating hydroxides and forming lithiated metal oxides of suitable crystallinity in-situ. M(OH)2 is added to an aqueous solution of LiOH. An oxidant is introduced into the solution which is heated below 150~C and, if necessary, agitated. The resultant LiMO2 becomes crystallized in-situ and is subsequently removed.

La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé de lithiation à basse température d'hydroxydes et de formation d'oxydes métalliques lithiés ayant une cristallinité appropriée in situ. On ajoute du M(OH)¿2? dans une solution aqueuse de LiOH. On introduit un oxydant dans la solution qu'on chauffe à une température inférieure à 150 ·C et, si nécessaire, on remue. Le LiMO2 résultant cristallise in situ puis on l'enlève.
