ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A lower frame member for supporting a pivoted sash of a window has two channel sections one above the other and communicating with each other. The upper channel is open on top and becomes closed when engaged by the lower frame of a sash when the window is closed. The upper channel communicates with the lower channel by vents in the bottom of the upper channel, the exterior side of the lower channel having a central passage which facilitates the axis to the pivot of the window for mounting, disassembling or servicing purposes. The access opening at the same time provides communication with the exterior atmospheric air, whereby air pressure in an enclosed upper channel (with the window closed) is maintained at the same level as the exterior air pressure. The invention combines the advantage of facilitating access to the pivot of the window with an improved resistance of the window against leakage due to sudden increase in the exterior atmospheric pressure.
