ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A movable device for raising and lowering persons or objects up to and down from theatre stages, or the like, and having a two-part chassis. The two sections ( 1, 2) of the chassis are joined together in a unit by means of lattice beams (3). Lift platforms (4) of various sizes can be suspended from the winches installed in the chassis sections. The winch frames (9) are telescopable (10). The lift device can thus be modified with regard to its lifting height and also the size of the lift platform used. The modular design permits easy transportation of the individual sections and also simple assembly of the lift
