The present invention relates to methods of treating neurological disorders with agents that bind to low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein (LRP) receptors. The present invention also relates to methods of modulating calcium influx and inhibiting cell death in neuronal cells by treating the neuronal cells with agents that bind to LRP. The present invention also relates to methods of identifying agents that modulate calcium influx in neuronal cells by binding to low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein.
