Lubricant composition containing multifunctional lubricant additives Abstract of the Disclosure The present invention provides a lubricant composition comprising a lubricating oil and, as a multifunctional additive, at least one compound of formula (I) Image (I) in which R1 and R2 are, independently, hydrogen or C1-C20 alkyl and R3 is hydrogen, C1-C20 alkyl or a group of the formula R4?CH-CO2H wherein R4 is H or C1-C20 alkyl. Most of the compounds of formula I are new.
