An applicator device (10) is provided for a fluent coating composition, the device having walls (12) defining a cylinder shaped reservoir (14) for the fluent coating composition (16), preferably a lubricant composition, the cylinder (14) having a mouth opening (18), the device having a holder, in the form of a cup (20) which defines a chamber (23) which is shaped and dimensioned to receive at least part of an elongate member, preferably a tampon, requiring to be coated with the fluent coating composition (16), the holder being fitted snugly into the mouth of the opening (18) of the cylinder (14), the holder (20) being provided with a plurality of uniformly spaced openings (22) for permitting the coating composition (16), to be fed from the reservoir (14) into the holder (20), the device having feed means in the form of a displaceable plunger (30) sized and dimensioned for snugly engaging with the inner surface of the walls (12), and a cup shaped closure end-cap (40) which is provided to snugly fit over a reduced diameter region (13) of the walls (12), thereby effectively sealing the fluent coating composition (16), in the applicator (10) from the outside. By action of the plunger the coating composition is forced through the holes (22) into the holder thereby allowing coating of the elongate member by the composition.

Ce dispositif applicateur (10), qui est prévu pour une composition liquide d'enduisage, est pourvu de parois (12) définissant un réservoir en forme de cylindre (14) destiné à recevoir la composition liquide d'enduisage, une composition lubrifiante de préférence, ce réservoir possédant une embouchure (18). Le dispositif est également pourvu d'un élément de retenue en forme de coupelle (20) définissant une enceinte (23) dont la forme et les dimensions ont été calculées pour lui permettre de loger un objet allongé, de préférence un tampon, nécessitant d'être enduit de la composition liquide d'enduisage (16), l'élément de retenue (20) étant ajusté serré dans l'embouche de l'ouverture (18) du cylindre (14) et possédant plusieurs orifices à intervalles réguliers (22), ce qui permet à la composition liquide (16) de sortir du réservoir (14). Ce dispositif comporte un organe introducteur se présentant sous l'aspect d'un piston mobile (30) dont la forme et les dimensions ont été calculées pour le faire entrer étroitement en contact avec la partie intérieure des parois (12) du dispositif ainsi qu'un capuchon d'extrémité en forme de coupelle (40) conçu pour s'adapter rigoureusement à la zone à diamètre réduit (13) des parois (12) et ce, de manière à interdire la sortie de l'applicateur (10) de la composition liquide d'enduisage. Du fait du mouvement du piston, cette composition liquide d'enduisage traverse, sous l'effet de la pression, les trous (22) ménagés dans l'élément de retenue, ce qui permet l'enduisage de l'objet allongé.
