A lubricant for use in hot rolling of high chromium stainless steel, the lubricant being continuously supplied to surfaces of hot rolling rolls in contact with the steel being rolled at least during hot rolling of the stainless steel, which lubricant comprises a viscous aqueous solution of water soluble high molecular weight thickener and from 10 to 40 % by weight of iron hydroxide powder dispersed in the aqueous solution, said iron hydroxide powder having a median particle size of from not less than 0.1 µm to less than 1 µm and said lubricant having an apparent viscosity within the range of from 1,000 to 50,000 cP.
La présente invention concerne un lubrifiant destiné au laminage à chaud des aciers inoxydables à forte teneur en chrome. Pendant au moins toute la durée du laminage à chaud de l'acier inoxydable à forte teneur en chrome, ce lubrifiant est alimenté en continu sur la surface des cylindres de travail entrant en contact avec le matériau à laminer. Ce lubrifiant est obtenu par dispersion de 10 à 40 % en proportion pondérale de poudre d'hydroxyde de fer dont le diamètre particulaire moyen est compris entre 0,1 mu m et 1 mu m dans une solution aqueuse visqueuse. Ladite solution est obtenue par dissolution dans l'eau d'un épaississant composé d'un haut polymère hydrosoluble. La viscosité apparente du lubrifiant est comprise entre 1000 et 50000 cP.
