Disclosed are lubricating compositions having improved wear and oxidation properties. The improved compositions contain multifunctional additives prepared by reacting 2,5-dimercapto- 1,3,4-thiadiazole, aliphatic or aromatic aldehyde and aromatic amine in the molar ratio of 1:1:1 to 2:4:3. The 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole may be substituted in the 2-position by hydrocarbyl, terpene residue, polymeric alpha-olefin and succinate residues.

Compositions lubrifiantes possédant des propriétés améliorées de résistance à l'usure et d'oxydation. Ces compositions renferment des additifs multifonctionnels, préparés par réaction de 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole, d'un aldéhyde aliphatique ou aromatique et d'une amine aromatique dans des rapports molaires de 1:1:1 à 2:4:3. Le 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole peut avoir en position 2 une substitution par un groupe hydrocarboné, un résidu de terpène, ou des résidus d'alpha-oléfine polymère et de succinate.
