2101928 9213932 PCTABS00014 The specification describes lubricating oil compositions containing a medium molecular weight paraffin (MMWP). The medium molecular weight paraffins disclosed include those having from 10 to 20 carbon atoms. Compositions containing from 0.1 % to 2 % by volume are disclosed. The MMWP reduces varnishing, sludging, production of chemical byproducts and glazing. It also improves seal life and extends the life of lubricating oil compositions containing it.
