An improved polybutene-free lubricant composition for marine diesel engines, comprising a major amount of oil of lubricating viscosity and, provided by admixing therewith, minor amounts of a) at least one of a borated dispersant or oil-soluble or oil-dispersible boron compound; and b) one or more overbased metal compounds, the or each compound having a TBN of at least 300, with the proviso that if an overbased metal salicylate is present then the TBN of said salicylate is at least 200; wherein the TBN of the composition is at least 10 and the viscosity index of the composition is at least 90.
L'invention concerne une composition de lubrifiant améliorée sans polybutène destinée à des moteurs Diesel marins et comprenant une grosse quantité d'huile de viscosité lubrifiante, et mélangé à celle-ci, de petites quantités a) d'au moins un dispersant boraté ou un composé de bore soluble dans l'huile ou dispersable dans l'huile, et b) d'un ou de plusieurs composés métalliques surbasés, le ou chaque composé ayant un indice de basicité d'au moins 300, à la condition que si un salicylate de métal surbasé est présent alors l'indice de basicité dudit salicylate est d'au moins 200; l'indice de basicité de la composition étant d'au moins 10 et l'indice de viscosicité d'au moins 90.
