ABSTRACT An internal combustion engine is provided with a lubricating system and a full flow oil filtering circuit (12) arranged in parallel with the main oil lubricating circuit (44) of the engine. The lubricating system includes drive means (48) an oil lubricating circuit (44) for lubricating the drive means, an oil sump (30) connected in flow communication with the lubricating system and an oil pump (46) connected in flow communication with the sump (30) and a lubricating system and operably driven by the drive means (48) for pumping oil from the sump (30) through the lubricating circuit (44) and back to the sump (30). The parallel flow oil filtering circuit (12) includes an oil filter (50) disposed adjacent the oil sump (30) and connected in flow communication therewith. An oil pump (52) is disposed adjacent the sump (30) and connected in flow communication with the sump (30) and the oil filtering means (50). The oil pump (52) is driven by engagement with the governor gear (36).
