Apparatus and methods for improved in-line contaminant removal from engine lubricating oil are provided which employ gravity to achieve a desired flow rate of oil. The invention is adapted for use with an existing engine oil lubrication system and continuously processes a side stream that, after processing, is returned to the engine oil. During processing the oil is first filtered in filter assembly structure (121) and then drained and deposited upon the upper central surface portion of a heated dome platen (165) whereon the oil forms a thin film from which relatively low boiling volatile impurities are rapidly separated in a gaseous state. The gas is vented through upper outlet (169) and conduit (171) while the recovered reconditioned oil is collected on bottom platform (163) and recycled through return conduit (164).
L'invention concerne un appareil et des procédés d'élimination améliorée en ligne de contaminants d'une huile lubrifiante pour moteurs, cet appareil et ces procédés faisant appel à la gravité pour obtenir un débit d'huile voulu. L'invention est adaptée pour une utilisation avec un système existant de lubrification d'huile pour moteurs et traite en continu un flux secondaire qui, après traitement, est réintroduit dans l'huile pour moteurs. Pendant le traitement, l'huile est d'abord filtrée dans une structure d'ensemble filtre (121) puis elle est drainée et déposée sur la partie de surface centrale supérieure d'un plateau en dôme (165) chauffé sur lequel l'huile forme une pellicule mince dans laquelle des impuretés volatiles à ébullition relativement faible sont rapidement séparées à l'état gazeux. Le gaz est ventilé dans l'orifice de sortie (169) et le conduit supérieurs alors que l'huile reconditionnée récupérée est recueillie sur une plate-forme de fond (163) et recyclée dans le conduit de récupération (164).
