ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A V-shaped, air-cooled engine has a lubricant pump located in the lower portion of the crankcase, and at least partly immersed in the engine lubricating oil so that oil is contained therein at all times. Lubricating oil is pumped to the cylinders through internal passages in the crankcase, and through annular passages between the valve push rods and their tubular housings. Lubricant return passages lead through the cooling fins provided on the cylinders, so that cooling air flowing over the cylinder fins serves to cool the lubricating oil.
