ABSTRACT A small lubricant testing device which has a rotor to which a small electric hand drill can be attached for driving during a simple test to establish the relative amount of pressure which has to be applied to a member having a small contact area pushed against an outer surface of the rotor. The testing device, which can be readily carried by a salesman for the purposes of demonstrating the relative strength of a lubricating film produced by a particular liquid lubricant or an additive, includes a receptacle for receiving the sample lubricant to a level to contact the surface of the rotor. A handle, against which a force by hand may be exerted to increase the pressure applied by the contact area to the surface of the rotor, is designed to flex relative to a indicator rod so that a reading can be obtained when the pressure applied is sufficient to stall the drive by the drill and thus indicated a point at which the lubricant has failed to maintain a lubricating film over the rotor surface. The reading can be compared to a reading conducted in the same manner on another lubricant or additive.
