Provided is an arrangement for stowing away a retractable tonneau cover assembly (50) under a floor of a luggage space (10) requiring a very small space. A recess (36) is formed laterally across a width of a vehicle body in a rear end thereof. When stowing away the assembly, an outer tube (52) of the assembly is received in the recess with a longitudinal slot (54) thereof facing upward. A flexible cover sheet (56) extends out of the longitudinal slot (54), and a rigid free end member (58) attached to a free end of the flexible cover sheet (56) extends along a rear side of the outer tube into a deep section (36A) of the recess (36). Therefore, the recess (36) is required to have a width which is not significantly greater that the height (h) of the outer tube (52).
La présente invention se rapporte à une structure de compartiment à bagages (10) disposée sous un plancher de véhicule pour recevoir un ensemble couvre-tonneaux de type enroulable. Un creux latéral (36) est disposé dans le plancher de véhicule pour recevoir lensemble couvre-tonneaux. Un boîtier extérieur (52) de lensemble couvre-tonneaux est reçu dans le creux (36) pourvu dune fente de guidage axiale (64) dans la position verticale. La feuille de protection flexible (56) peut être tirée hors de la fente axiale (64) tandis quun élément dextrémité (58) fixé à la feuille de protection (56) peut être reçu dans un espace situé derrière le boîtier extérieur vers le bas (36B) du creux latéral (36). Ainsi, la largeur du creux latéral (36) peut être réduite à une taille un peu plus grande que la hauteur (h) du boîtier extérieur (52).
