LUMINAIRE FOR A VISUAL DISPLAY TERMINAL Abstract of the Disclosure An illumination system for a workstation having a backwall, a substantially horizontally disposed work sur- face, and a visual display terminal adapted to be viewed by an operator in a direction substantially perpendicular to the backwall is disclosed. The system has two light sources, one of which provides a backlighting component of illumination, while the other provides task lighting and ambient lighting. An anti-veiling shield prevents direct illumination of the operator, reducing veiling reflections on the screen of the visual display terminal.
