ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed herein are derivatives of 5-(lower alkyl)-7-amino-2,3-dihydro-1,4-phthalazinedione having substituents on the amino group. The derivatives have luminescent properties which render them useful as analytical tools in clinical chemistry. Adaptation of the derivatives for luminescent immunoassay provides valuable reagents and assays with outstanding sensi- tivity.
