ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: There is disclosed a lyophilized control or reference plasma or control or reference serum for diagnostic purposes containing lipoproteins, in particular apo-B- containing lipoproteins, which has a water content of between 1 and 10 %, preferably between 1.5 and 5 %, and is reconstitutable to a clear solution exhibiting a maximum turbidity of 70 LSU. Furthermore, there are disclosed a method of preparing a lyophilized control or reference plasma or control or reference serum as well as a method of preparing a control or reference plasma or control or reference serum.
