A meta-diurethane of the general formula Image (I) which has a selective herbicidal activity is provided in which R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R2 represents a hydrocarbon group containing up to 4 carbon atoms; R3 drepresents an alkyl group containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms and R1 and R3 together with the adjacent carbon atom may also represent a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group con- taining 5 or 6 carbon atoms and R4 represents an alkyl group containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms; the grouping Image having at least 5 carbon atoms.
