A machine for producing a tissue web is provided, including a former having a forming region which includes at least one circulating, continuous dewatering wire having zonally variable wire permeability. Furthermore, a process for producing the tissue web in a tissue machine is provided. The process includes forming the tissue web in a forming region of a former, wherein the forming region includes at least one circulating, continuous dewatering wire having zonally variable wire permeability. The machine and process enable a tissue web of improved quality, including water absorption capacity, water retention capacity, and water absorption speed, to be obtained.
