ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a machine for distributing material. The overall width of the machine, as seen in the operating direction, is greater than the overall length thereof, and the overall length does not exceed the maximal permissible width for agricultural machines travelling on public streets and roads. Tools for laying the material on the ground are also part of the machine, and the tools are arranged in rows one behind the other and are adapted, in the operative condition, to be lowered, and in the transporting position, to be raised. The machine also has a frame, supported at three points and carried on castor wheel arrangements. A towing device for connecting a tractor to the frame can be mounted either on the front or side of the frame. In accordance with the invention, the machine comprises means for locking the wheels of one of the castor wheel arrangements in a transporting direction or in an operating direction at right angles to the transporting direction.
