A B S T R A C T In a machine for severing the residual meat adhering to bones, the bones are pressed within a compressing chamber by means of a piston. The wall of the compressing chamber is provided with openings for the passage of the meat mass having been brought into a pasty condition and can be displaced in height direction by means of the press piston for the purpose of sealing the compressing chamber with respect to the abutment. For this purpose, the pressing piston is surrounded by a catch ring which pushes in front of it the wall of the compressing chamber when lifting the pressing piston. The axial movement of the wall of the compressing chamber is limited by stop members.
