ABSTRACT In order to prevent, on a panty-hose-type knit garment that is to be automatically transferred on a machine for tassel-sewing, folds at the borders of the fabric which is to be tassel-sewn, the following are used: (a) a head made up of a hollow support (40), which is enveloped by a free-wheeling (neutral) collar (50) holding several crocheting needles (60), arranged in a circle, angularly equidistant, and angled-out radially, which permit the garment (37) to be held by the stretched border of the fabric which is to be tassel-sewn, at the same time as the garment is fed (sucked) inside the support (40); (b) a clamp with buffers (10-10) - working in alternation with a pneumatic aspirator (11) - which allows firstly, stretching the warp of the body (35) of the garment lengthwise; and then, while keeping it stretched, to bring it progressively to the opening (42) of the support (40) while the garment is being sucked into the said support (40); (c) two vertical pneumatic aspirators (20) used to stretch the legs (36) of the garment before they are sucked separately into the same support (40); (d) a rubber cupped tampon (12) which can be inserted into the opening of the support (40) under a light elastic force.
