ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A machine for the manufacture of strands from several wires. It comprises feeding means for the wires, downstream of said feeding means, for each wire, a twisting device of the wire about its longitudinal axis, downstream of said devices, a strand formation apparatus, and control means for the twisting devices so that at each time, some of the wires rotate about their axis in a determined direction and the others in the reverse direction so that the algebraic sum of the torques applied to the wires to twist them are substan- tially zero. Therefore, the pitch of the strand is not influenced by the twisting devices.
