A machine for treating, in particular for portioning and shaping, dough, comprises: a drum which can rotate about a horizontal axis, provided at its periphery with receiving apertures for the dough in which the dough is processed by for example a shaping unit. In each aperture, a plunger is guided in the radial direction of the drum by a restrictive guidance system, which can oscillate in its entirety relative to the drum. The guidance system comprises at least two components which can move relative to each other, and which together form the restrictive guidance system and guide the plunger always reliably. By relative motion of the two components, the processing conditions can be altered at one station without affecting any of the others.
