The first and second plateaux (1, 1') of each pair advance in the machine while maintaining their spacing and remaining longitudinally coincident, while moving crosswise at the same speed but in opposite directions, thereby rotating about its own centre portion (P), which they are gripping. Also, between consecutive first plateaux (1) and consecutive second plateaux (1'), the directions of crosswise movement are alternated. Consequently, the section (B) driven by the pairs (1, 1') progresses within the machine in the form of consecutive portions (P) between which forms a twist.

La machine selon l'invention comprend en aval d'un moyen de pincement définissant des portions (P), des paires successives de premier et second plateaux (1, 1') disposés parallèlement à l'intérieur desquelles viennent s'engager les portions (P). Les premier et second plateaux (1, 1') de chaque paire avancent dans la machine en conservant leur écartement et en restant en coïncidence longitudinalement, tout en se déplacant transversalement à la même vitesse mais en sens opposés de manière à faire tourner sur elle-même la portion (P) qu'ils enserrent.
