The invention relates to an automated apparatus for automatic placement of a retroreflective sheeting material (28) on markers (46) used for the channelization of traffic. The apparatus includes a spool member (14) to dispense the retroflective sheeting (28) and receive the liner material (30) removed from theretroreflective sheeting during dispensing. The apparatus also includes a rollermechanism (16) for advancing and positioning the retroflective sheeting. A drive mechanism (133) for regulating the advancement and position of the retroreflective sheeting (28) to provide a precise length of the retroreflectivesheeting according to the size of the marker (46) is also included in the apparatus. The apparatus also comprises a positioning mechanism (22) for automatically configuring a length of the retroreflective sheeting against the marker so that the retroflective sheeting is precisely affixed the marker.
