A machine tool (11) comprising a main shaft supporting side structure (13) erected on a floor face and adapted to support a main shaft (15) fitted with a tool (T) and, erect-ed on the floor face opposite to the main shaft supporting side structure (13), a work support-ing side structure (17) for supporting a work (W), so that relative displacement of the tool (T) and the work is carried out to thereby attain machining of the work. Further, the superior edge portion of the main shaft supporting side structure (13) is coupled with the superior edge portion of the work supporting side structure (17) by means of a joining member (41).
