This invention encompasses a substantially homogeneous lipid chemoattractant released from stressed mammalian tissue which is a neutral lipid which is acid labile and stable to base and is stable in boiling water. This lipid recruits macrophages but not neutrophils to stressed tissue. The invention also encompasses a method for detecting injured tissue by detecting the presence of the above described lipid chemoattractant in body fluids such as urine, serum and saliva. The invention also includes a method for reducing recruitment of macrophages to injured tissue by reducing the amount of the above lipid chemoattractant or by blocking the interaction of this lipid chemoattractant with its macrophage binding site. The addition of this lipid chemoattractant to injured skin tissue promotes healing.
La présente invention concerne un facteur chimiotactique lipidique essentiellement homogène libéré du tissu mammalien stressé, qui est un lipide neutre instable en présence d'un acide et stable en présence d'une base et à l'ébullition. Ce lipide mobilise les macrophages, mais non les neurophiles vers le tissu stressé. L'invention a également trait à une méthode de détection des tissus endommagés par la détection de la présence du facteur chimiotactique lipidique précédemment décrit dans les liquides organiques, comme l'urine, le sérum et la salive. On dévoile aussi une méthode pour réduire la mobilisation des macrophages vers les tissus endommagés par la diminution de la quantité du facteur chimiotactique lipidique susmentionné ou par blocage de l'interaction entre ce dernier et son site de liaison avec les macrophages. L'addition de ce facteur chimiotactique lipidique au tissu dermique favorise la guérison.
