ABSTRACT A method for producing a magnesia partially- stabilized zirconia ceramics is provided. The method preferably consists of combining zirconium dioxide having a silica content of up to 0.5 weight percent with a magnesium-containing component. This mixture is then compacted, heated, and cooled at a controlled rate, without aging, to form said zirconia ceramics.
