A magnesium hydroxide material having a great specific surface area is provided. A method for producing the above magnesium hydroxide material, which comprises immersing a magnesium-containing material in an acidic solution to thereby decompose chemically, adding an alkali solution to the resultant acid solution to prepare a primary alkali solution being weakly alkaline, removing impurities in the primary alkaline solution, adding an alkaline solution to the resultant primary alkaline solution, to prepare the secondary alkaline solution being strongly alkaline, and precipitating magnesium hydroxide in the secondary alkaline solution.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production du matériau d'hydroxyde de magnésium ci-dessus, comprenant les étapes consistant à immerger un matériau contenant du magnésium dans une solution acide de façon à le décomposer de manière chimique, ajouter une solution alcaline à la solution acide résultante de façon à préparer une solution alcaline primaire faiblement alcaline, éliminer des impuretés dans la solution alcaline primaire, ajouter une solution alcaline à la solution alcaline primaire résultante, de façon à préparer la solution alcaline secondaire fortement alcaline, et faire précipiter l'hydroxyde de magnésium dans la solution alcaline secondaire.
