In the magnet motor stator, magnet insertion holes are provided, a pole is formed with a plurality of insertion holes, and flat magnets are inserted into the respective insertion holes. From among stator core plates made by stamping a steel sheet such as a silicon steel sheet, a plurality of stator core plates without magnet insertion holes and a plurality of stator core plates with magnet insertion holes are alternately laminated. The magnet is held only at the portion formed by laminating a plurality of stator core plates having magnet insertion holes. At this point, the portions formed by laminating stator core plates without magnet insertion holes are arranged at the upper and lower ends of the stator. The simple flat shape of the magnet ensures easy preparation. The need for the positioning operation upon attaching the magnets to the stator or the bonding operation using an adhesive is eliminated. It is thus possible to manufacture a stator at a lower cost, and to reduce the sire and weight of the magnet motor used for an electric bicycle.
