ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A microwave oven comprises a card reader to read a cooking program magnetically recorded onto a program card. A control circuit is responsive to the cooking program read by the card reader to execute the cooking program by properly ener- gizing the oven's microwave generating circuit. A cooking program may be recorded onto a program card by using a set of input keys provided on the oven's control panel. The recorded program can be checked, for accuracy. Cooking data relevant to the program may be visually displayed. The cooking times specified by a basic program may be modified to take into account the actual weight of the food being prepared.
