MAGNETIC COMPACT DISK AUXILIARY MEMORY AND METHOD OF USING THE LATTER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A compact disk auxiliary memory for storing information on a conventional compact disk. The conventional compact disk has a primary memory region wherein information is stored In the form of optical data. The primary memory region is located on a first surface of the compact disk. The compact disk auxiliary memory of the present invention Is adapted to be positioned on an opposed compact disk surface. The auxiliary memory preferably takes the form of an annular-shaped substrate which is adapted to be either adhesively bounded or embedded on the compact disk. The information is thus adapted to be transferred to and from the compact disk auxiliary memory by a conventional magnetic read/write head. Since the memory substrate has a substantially annular configuration, the conventional disk driving mechanism of a conventional compact disk player can be used positioned the memory substrate in a proper relative relationship with a magnetic head for transferring data between the magnetic head and the compact disk auxiliary memory. 31
