A magnetic core-coil assembly generates an ignition event in a spark ignition internal combustion system having at least one combustion chamber. The assembly comprises a magnetic core of amorphous metal having a primary coil for low voltage excitation and a secondary coil for a high voltage output to be fed to a spark plug. A high voltage is generated in the secondary coil within a short period of time following excitation thereof. The assembly senses spark ignition conditions in the combustion chamber to control the ignition event. The assembly is constructed from sub-assembly parts that can be manufactured with existing machines at reasonable cost. The assembly is then potted in a housing consisting of a high temperature polymer.

Ensemble noyau-enroulement magnétique qui produit une étincelle dans un système à combustion interne à allumage par étincelle doté d'au moins une chambre de combustion. Ledit ensemble comporte un noyau magnétique en métal amorphe doté d'un enroulement primaire pour l'excitation basse tension et d'un enroulement secondaire pour une sortie haute tension destinée à alimenter une bougie d'allumage. Une haute tension est produite dans l'enroulement secondaire en un laps de temps court à la suite de l'excitation dudit enroulement. L'ensemble détecte des conditions d'allumage par étincelle dans la chambre de combustion de manière à commander l'allumage. Il est constitué de sous-ensembles qui peuvent être fabriqués avec les machines existantes à un coût raisonnable. Il est ensuite placé dans un boîtier constitué d'un polymère résistant aux hautes températures.
