The present invention relates to a magnetic device for removing metallic particles from the lubricating oils in the sump systems associated with motors. In the preferred embodiment an oil level checking dipstick is manufactured from a magnetic material that is capable of removing metallic particulates from lubricating oils. Lubricating oil that is circulated within an engine oil pan sump or transmission system will be captured by a magnetic system which is incorporated into an oil level checking dipstick. Additionally, this invention will instill an objective of providing a magnetic collar that can be utilized as a supplementary device to non-magnetic dipsticks which can afford the total benefits of the fully magnetized dipstick.
