The wall thickness of each of paired cassette shell halves (14) of a cassette shell is partially small since a recess is provided in its internal face parallel to a magnetic disk (2). A step (10a) is formed on the periphery of the recess (10). A ring-like projection (10b) is formed at the part of the recess (10) corresponding to a flange section (7a) of a center core (7). The section (10) is covered with an elastic member (21) having a liner (8) on one side facing the disk (2) and attached to the shell half (14) in such a way that the periphery of the member (21) is fixed to the step (10a) and the central part of the member (21) is supported by the projection (10b). Therefore, the weight of the cassette shell of a magnetic disk cartridge is small and the productivity and quality of the shell are improved.
L'épaisseur des parois de chacune des moitiés (14) correspondantes d'un boîtier de cassette est partiellement limitée, étant donné qu'un évidement est situé dans sa face intérieure parallèlement au disque magnétique (2). De ce fait, le poids du boîtier de cassette d'une cartouche de disque magnétique est limité et la productivité, ainsi que la qualité du boîtier, sont améliorées.
