Abstract of the Disclosure The disclosure teaches a magnetic field gradient measuring device designed for highly sensitive measurements of a magnetic field gradient. The device comprises two sensors operating on an optical pumping principle, character- ized in that the radio frequency coils of the sensors are energized from a common means at a frequency close to the resonance frequency of the magnetic transitions of the atoms of a working matter. The above common means may be a third sensor similar to the first two sensors and oper- ating in a self-oscillation mode, The device is intended primarily for measuring small magnetic field gradients at small base distances between the sensors.
