A magnetic field transfer device includes a pair of oppositely wound inner coils which each include at least one winding around an inner coil axis, and an outer coil which includes at least one winding around an outer coil axis. The windings may be formed of superconductors. The axes of the two inner coils are parallel and laterally spaced from each other so that the inner coils are positioned in side-by-side relation. The outer coil is outwardly positioned from the inner coils and rotatable relative to the inner coils about a rotational axis substantially perpendicular to the inner coil axes to generate a hypothetical surface which substantially encloses the inner coils. The outer coil rotates relative to the inner coils between a first position in which the outer coil axis is substantially parallel to the inner coil axes and the outer coil augments the magnetic field formed in one of the inner coils, and a second position 180~ from the first position, in which the augmented magnetic field is transferred into the other inner coil and reoriented 180~ from the original magnetic field. The magnetic field transfer device allows a magnetic field to be transferred between volumes with negligible work being required to rotate the outer coil with respect to the inner coils.

Un dispositif de transfert de champ magnétique comprend une paire de bobines intérieures enroulées en sens inverse, chacune inclue au moins un enroulement autour d'un axe de bobine intérieur; et une bobine extérieure qui inclue au moins un enroulement autour d'un axe de bobine extérieure. Les enroulements peuvent être supraconducteurs. Les axes des deux bobines intérieures sont parallèles et écartées latéralement de façon à ce que les bobines intérieures soient placées côte-à-côte. La bobine extérieure est placée en retrait des bobines intérieures et est orientable autour d'un axe de rotation presque perpendiculaire aux axes des bobines intérieures afin de générer une surface hypothétique qui englobe sensiblement les bobines intérieures. La bobine extérieure tourne relativement aux bobines intérieures entre une première position où l'axe de la bobine extérieure est sensiblement parallèle aux axes des bobines intérieures et où la bobine extérieure renforce le champ magnétique formé par une des bobines intérieures, et une seconde position 180o de la première position où le champ magnétique renforcé est transféré dans l'autre bobine intérieur et réorienté de 180o par rapport au champ magnétique original. Le dispositif de transfert du champ magnétique permet à un champ magnétique d'être transféré entre volumes, et la quantité de travail nécessaire pour tourner la bobine extérieure par rapport aux bobines intérieures est négligeable.
