An improved magnetic filter adapter for use with fluid lubrication systems. The magnetic filter adapter of the present invention includes magnet means (25) for attracting metallic particles from the fluid flow within a filter assembly (12) toward an interior surface of a wall of the filter assembly, and a magnetic-field concentrating cup (23) for concentrating the magnetic force of said magnetic means such that the potential field strength of the magnetic means is optimized.
