ABSTRACT This invention discloses a magnetic head for perpendicular magnetic recording system which uses a flat coil, assures low write current and high reproduction efficiency by increasing the number of turns of coil, and is particularly suitable for manufacturing a thin film magnetic head. This inven- tion is characterized in consisting of the flat coil formed on the substrate and the main pole piece which is formed vertically to the surface on which said coil is formed from the center of said coil, and in being suitable particularly for manufacturing a thin film magnetic head as well as increasing the recording/ reproduction efficiency.
