ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE Magnetic identification apparatus in which a magnetically coded instrument such as a key or card is inserted into a reader which reads the recorded code. The code is recorded by disposition of discrete magnets in the instrument and the reader senses the code by generation of electromotive force in sensor elements therein caused by movement of the magnets relative to the sensor elements as the instrument is inserted into the reader. - 1 -
