Disclosed is a method for attracting and releasing a magnetic material by the use of a pipette device for sucking a liquid from or discharging same into a container. A magnet body or bodies are provided in a liquid suction line of the pipette device, and the magnetic material contained in a liquid sucked into the liquid suction line by magnetic force is deposited on an internal surface of the line. The magnetic material is released and discharged together with the liquid from the liquid suction line.
