ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of elevating closure flanges having an up- standing cylindrical neck surrounded by a laterally extending base. Closure flanges are dispensed from a bulk supply into an elongated vibratory pan which delivers flanges randomly oriented to a pickup station at the lower end of a magnetic elevator. The magnetic elevator comprises a conveyor belt associated with a series of magnets provided along its length for attracting the closure flanges thereto. Upon entering the pickup station, properly oriented flanges are immediately selected and elevated to a subsequent work station. The remaining flanges are pro- perly oriented by means of the magnetic field at the pickup station and similarly elevated to the subsequent work station.
