The invention relates to a magnetic rail brake device (1) of a railway vehicle, comprising a magnetic base or support element (5) and a magnetic coil (4) which can be connected to a voltage source by means of a connecting mechanism (19) that is retained by the base or support element (5) and is provided with at least two electrical terminals (15, 17). According to the invention, the front face of said connecting mechanism (19) is disposed within an imaginary enveloping area (21) of the base or support element (5).
