A simplified magnetic resonance flowmeter and flow measuring method, based on the dwell time of spins in the H1 Larmor radio frequency nutation field, which employs periodic H0 field gradients to phase modulate the spins so as to measure mean velocity of flow in near uniform velocity profiles or to map velocity of flow in non-uniform velocity profiles. The method does not require pulse techniques and is relatively independent of relaxation and diffusion parameters. It consists of a magnetizing section of pipe with a strong H0 magnetic field with a receiving section with orthogonal periodic phase modulating gradient coils, H1 Larmor radio frequency excitation (nutation) coils, and sideband receiver coils; utilizing a demodulating and cross- correlating receiver and a control system that permits concordant analysis of composition.
L'invention concerne un débitmètre par résonance magnétique simplifié et un procédé de mesure d'écoulement se basant sur le temps de passage de spins dans le champ de nutation de fréquence de Larmor H¿1?. Le procédé utilise des gradients périodiques de champ H¿0? pour moduler en phase les spins afin de mesurer une vitesse moyenne d'écoulement pour des profils de vitesses quasi uniformes, ou d'établir une carte de vitesse d'écoulement pour des profils de vitesses non uniformes. Le procédé ne nécessite pas de techniques d'impulsions et est relativement indépendant de paramètres de relaxation et de diffusion. Le débitmètre comporte une partie de tuyau de magnétisation à champ magnétique H¿0? puissant, une partie de réception équipée de bobines à gradients périodiques de modulation de phase orthogonales, de bobines d'excitation (nutation) de fréquence de Larmor H¿1? et de bobines réceptrices de bande latérale ; et utilise un récepteur de démodulation et à corrélation croisée, et un système de commande permettant une analyse concordante de la composition.
