This invention is a method of imaging arteries distinctly from veins using nuclear magnetic resonance imaging in combination with intravenous administration of a magnetic resonance contrast agent. The contrast agent is intravenously injected in such a way that the arterial contrast concentration is substantially higher than the venous and background tissue concentration for a sufficiently long period of time to acquire the magnetic resonance image. The injection site of the contrast agent is chosen such that it is in a vein which is remote from the artery of interest. The magnetic resonance contrast agent may be intravenously infused at a variable infusion rate.
L'invention se rapporte à un procédé d'imagerie des artères permettant de les distinguer des veines, en utilisant l'imagerie par résonance magnétique nucléaire combinée à l'administration intraveineuse d'un agent de contraste à résonance magnétique. Cet agent de contraste est injecté par voie intraveineuse pour que sa concentration dans les artères soit sensiblement supérieure à sa concentration dans les tissus veineux et environnants, pendant une période suffisamment longue pour acquérir l'image par résonance magnétique. Le site d'injection de l'agent de contraste est choisi de façon à ce qu'il se situe dans une veine distante de l'artère dont on veut réaliser l'imagerie. L'agent de contraste par résonance magnétique peut être perfusé par voie intraveineuse à une vitesse de perfusion variable.
