The invention provides a method of detecting blood flow abnormality or variation in a human or non-human body, said method comprising administering into the systemic vasculature of a said body a contrast enhancing amount of an intravascular paramagnetic metal containing magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent subjecting said body to a magnetic resonance imaging procedure capable of generating from magnetic resonance signals from said body a series of temporally spaced images of at least a part of said body into which said agent passes and detecting temporal variations in said signals or images whereby to identify regions of abnormal or modified blood flow in said body and to indicate the degree of blood flow abnormality or modification therein.
L'invention porte sur un procédé de dépistage des anomalies ou des variations du flux sanguin dans l'organisme humain ou dans un autre organisme. Le procédé consiste à injecter dans le système vasculaire général une dose de renforçateur de contraste constituée d'un métal paramagnétique à usage intravasculaire contenant un agent de contraste, et à soumettre l'organisme à l'action d'un système d'imagerie par résonance magnétique dans le cadre duquel les signaux émis permettent d'obtenir une série d'images décalées dans le temps de la partie de l'organisme soumise aux effets de l'agent de contraste, de constater éventuellement des variations dans le temps de ces signaux ou images, d'identifier ainsi les régions où le flux sanguin est anormal ou modifié et d'évaluer le degré d'anomalie ou de modification constaté.
